Timber Frame or Post & Beam construction has
been in existence for thousands of years.
Archaeologists date the beginning of timber framing to the first joinery which began simultaneously around 200 B.C., in the Far East and in Europe. The KONDO (main hall) a timber frame structure still standing in Japan, is said to have been built in 609 A.D., dating it as the oldest wooden structure in the world.
